About European Association of Social Anthropologists
EASA, the European Association of Social Anthropologists, is a professional organization committed to advancing the discipline of social anthropology across Europe. Established in 1989 by a diverse group of founding members from thirteen European countries and supported by the Wenner-Gren Foundation, EASA promotes scholarly communication and collaboration among social anthropologists. The Association organizes biennial conferences, publishes the renowned academic journal Social Anthropology/Anthropologie Sociale, and produces newsletters and a book series.
EASA also encourages thematic networks that focus on various aspects of anthropology, fostering vibrant discussions and innovative research. Moreover, EASA is deeply committed to addressing issues such as academic precarity and mental health, providing mentorship and support for early career anthropologists. As a self-governing democratic body registered with the Charity Commission, EASA adheres to strong governance principles, ensuring a pro-active and inclusive environment for its members.
By connecting scholars and enhancing public engagement in anthropology, EASA plays a crucial role in the discipline's development and visibility across Europe
