Easi-Net

Easi-Net is a New Zealand whitebaiting equipment brand offering a modular alternative to conventional heavy metal set nets. Developed by an experienced Canterbury whitebaiter, its system is designed to be easier to transport, store and operate, particularly during the shortened fishing season. The complete set combines a 1.5-metre net with up to two interchangeable screens, giving a maximum screen length of three metres in line with the regulations cited on the website.

The net and screens use strong, durable PVC frames and 50-millimetre pipe. Their buoyant upper rails float at the water’s surface, while lower sections fill with water when submerged to provide ballast. This design allows the equipment to be used on a riverbed or in deeper water near the bank, with supplied ropes helping position and retrieve the net. The modular components collapse for compact off-season storage and weigh approximately nine kilograms each. Easi-Net also provides setup videos and instructions covering assembly, use and adapting the gear for either riverbank.
