About EAZ
The Economics Association of Zambia (EAZ) is a non-partisan professional association established in the 1960s as the Lusaka Economics Club. It is registered as a Non-Governmental and Not for Profit Organization under the Societies Act. The association brings together experts in economics, business administration, finance, and allied fields, working towards the socio-economic development of Zambia and the region. Their diverse membership allows for the exploration and discussion of economic and developmental issues.
The EAZ promotes research, training, education, publication, and consultancy in the field of economics and related disciplines. They organize conferences, workshops, and seminars, fostering regular professional discussions. Through active networking, they establish links with organizations involved in similar activities. Additionally, the association commissions specialist research teams, hosts monthly meetings, and holds local and international workshops.
The EAZ is guided by values such as transparency, accountability, professionalism, integrity, and impartiality. Their strategic direction focuses on being a center of excellence for economic policy analysis and research, contributing to economic and social development. Their objectives for 2022-2023 include providing effective input into public policy, mobilizing evidence-based policy research, strengthening public information and outreach, improving professional capacity for consultancy, and enhancing the EAZ secretariat.
Joining the EAZ grants members access to a dedicated Members Area on their website.
