The European Battery Alliance (EBA250) was established in October 2017 under the guidance of European Commission Vice President Maroš Šefčovič, aiming to create a competitive and sustainable battery cell manufacturing value chain in Europe. This initiative is pivotal for enhancing safety in traffic, promoting cleaner vehicles, and facilitating sustainable technologies. It foresees an impressive market potential valued at up to €250 billion by 2025.
The EBA250, guided by InnoEnergy, fosters collaboration among over 800 stakeholders across the battery value chain, driving innovative projects that address priority actions and ensure adherence to EU competition rules. Key achievements include the definition of 43 necessary actions, with 18 prioritized for immediate development, and a Strategic Action Plan for Batteries that integrates stakeholders' recommendations. Through workshops and strategic meetings, EBA250 actively aligns industrial and financial efforts to strengthen the European battery sector, ensuring it plays a crucial role in the global battery market while contributing to cleaner and more efficient mobility solutions
