Ellwanger Barry Nursery School (EBNS) is a parent-run cooperative nursery school and kindergarten in Rochester, New York. Its Waldorf-style program centers on daily immersion in the natural world, encouraging children to explore their surroundings with curiosity and wonder. The school’s mission is to provide a safe, loving educational community where each child’s uniqueness is valued and emotional, social, and creative growth is supported.

Led by longtime educator Katie Banta, EBNS aims to make children’s natural sense of wonder a foundation for learning. Its cooperative model brings families into the life of the school: parents of enrolled students share classroom assistant responsibilities and administrative work. This shared participation helps build a close-knit community united around providing a positive early educational experience.

EBNS serves families seeking a nature-centered, community-oriented approach to early childhood education. The school is located at 4 E Henrietta Road, Rochester, New York, and provides information about its programs, team, enrollment, and contact options through its website.
