About Ebuteli
Ebuteli is an independent non-profit research project that aims to understand and address the violence impacting millions of Congolese individuals. Operating from the Center on International Cooperation at New York University, Ebuteli focuses on politics, governance, and violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Through rigorous research, Ebuteli seeks to promote informed debates and find viable solutions to the numerous challenges faced by the country.
In a climate often clouded by rumors, Ebuteli strives to contribute to an informed national dialogue on critical issues. The organization's work is built upon three pillars: policy, governance, and violence. Ebuteli conducts research to stimulate public debate on the functioning of the Congolese state, investigates the system of wealth appropriation within the country, and explores the root causes and participants of Congo's violence.
As the research partner of the Congo Research Group (CRG), Ebuteli supports rigorous and independent research on Congolese violence. Through its bilingual research, the organization aims to elucidate the complex connections between politics, violence, and the political economy in the DRC for a wide audience.
