About Executive Council of Australian Jewry
ECAJ, the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, serves as the central body and voice for the Australian Jewish Community. For nearly 80 years, we have been advocating for the interests and rights of the community, engaging with government entities, law enforcement agencies, media outlets, and other faith groups. From supporting the establishment of the State of Israel to advocating for refugee absorption after the Holocaust, ECAJ has led advocacy efforts on crucial matters.
Today, our focus comprehensively covers any issue affecting the Jewish community's rights and freedoms within Australia. At ECAJ, we are committed to combating antisemitism, defending the national rights of the Jewish people, ensuring community security, and promoting a vibrant Jewish presence in Australia. Our work involves monitoring and speaking out against instances of antisemitism, protecting religious freedoms, securing funding for community security, advocating for Holocaust survivors' compensation, fostering support for Zionism, liaising with the government on child abuse, monitoring school curricula, commemorating the Shoah, and supporting smaller Jewish communities nationwide.
