Ethnic Community Development Organization (ECDO) is a non-government and not-for-profit voluntary organization dedicated to the development of various indigenous communities in the Sylhet Division of Bangladesh. Our mission is to assist indigenous communities in realizing their rights and opportunities for positive and sustainable change through a combination of service delivery and rights-based approaches. Indigenous people, who represent 1.

5 percent of the population in the Sylhet Division, face numerous challenges, including poverty, discrimination, and limited access to essential services such as healthcare and education. ECDO aims to promote equality and empowerment among these communities and eliminate the discrimination they face in society. As an organization led by indigenous people themselves, ECDO has strong connections with local indigenous leaders, enabling us to build trust and establish greater access to underserved communities.

We prioritize community participation and utilize a rights-based approach to decision-making, ensuring a sense of empowerment, ownership, and long-term sustainability of our projects. Our vision is to create a society where empowered, educated, aware, and culturally diverse indigenous groups can achieve their own human development, free from discrimination, poverty, and exploitation. ECDO operates under the legal status of a registered organization and maintains memberships and affiliations with various national and international bodies.
