ECFMG, the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, is a global leader dedicated to promoting quality health care. Serving physicians, members of the medical education and regulatory communities, and health care consumers, ECFMG plays a crucial role in evaluating the qualifications of international medical graduates (IMGs). Established in 1956, ECFMG has become the gold standard for assessing the capabilities of IMGs before they enter graduate medical education in the United States.
Certification by ECFMG is not only essential for admission to U. S. Apart from certification, ECFMG provides a range of programs and services tailored to the needs of IMGs.
These include assistance with the application process for U. S. With almost 70 years of experience in certifying IMGs, ECFMG has developed unparalleled expertise in the evaluation of medical schools and the verification of their graduates' credentials.
Moreover, ECFMG offers valuable services and resources to international medical schools through its ECFMG Medical School Web Portal (EMSWP), providing access to electronic Credential Verification and USMLE Performance Data. Additionally, ECFMG’s commitment to excellence in international medical education led to the establishment of FAIMER (Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research). FAIMER offers leadership and health professions education training and provides comprehensive information on health professions education globally.
Overall, ECFMG is dedicated to the promotion of quality health care and plays a pivotal role in facilitating the entry and success of international medical graduates in the United States
