The Eckersley Shakespeare Trust is dedicated to furthering research into the plays of William Shakespeare, with a particular focus on the number structures and geometrical forms found in the 1623 First Folio. The Trust preserves and presents the work of Sylvia Eckersley, whose decades of study led her to identify patterns in the printed plays and develop a geometric representation for each play, which she called its “Figure. ” These figures are presented as tools for exploring relationships between moments in a play, alongside the rhythms and symmetries revealed through numbered texts.
The Trust’s website serves as an archive of Eckersley’s writings, research notes, and carefully drawn figures. Its materials cover play notes, numbered texts, geometrical play figures, Shakespeare’s sonnets, and the First Folio, including its introductory and dedicatory pages, plays, and opening pages. The site also provides information about the Trust, its archive, and related publications, offering readers resources for investigating how number and geometry may illuminate Shakespeare’s works
