Eclipsi Catalunya 2026 is a visionary initiative by the Generalitat de Catalunya, designed to ensure a safe and memorable experience during the total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026. This event promises an extraordinary opportunity for both citizens and tourists to witness the historic phenomenon, the first of its kind in Catalunya since 1905. The initiative includes a meticulously planned selection of observation points, chosen based on safety, accessibility, and visibility to provide the best possible experience.

In addition to observing the eclipse, Eclipsi Catalunya 2026 offers a wealth of activities aimed at promoting science and cultural appreciation. These activities include public lectures featuring international experts in astronomy and space exploration, as well as numerous outreach events across the region. Participants can engage in the SOLARIS research project—a citizen science initiative exploring human reactions during the eclipse—while also receiving essential safety guidance for viewing the event. Overall, Eclipsi Catalunya 2026 is set to create a vibrant community experience centered on this remarkable astronomical event.
