We are a bicultural organisation and leading provider of new knowledge, fresh thinking and best practice for early childhood care and education. Achieving increasingly higher standards of care and education for the children of Aotearoa is our only focus. We provide a range of undergraduate to postgraduate study options for ECE as well as primary teaching which was recently offered in 2021. We are proud to be one of New Zealand’s top early childhood teacher education providers, having been awarded the highest quality rating by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). This means you can have absolute confidence in the quality of all our programmes. Our membership organisation represents early childhood education services and teachers|kaiako who provide education and care to thousands of infants, toddlers and young children. Members receive support and advice, regular sector updates and access to resources and professional development opportunities. Our members are drawn from a diverse range of community-based and privately-owned ECE services, individuals, teachers, students and organisations with an interest in the ECE sector, and we welcome you to join! Our guiding beliefs: - Every child in New Zealand has the right to high quality education and care that complements and supports their family’s life. - Every child in New Zealand has the right to know and enjoy the dual cultural heritage of Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnered along with his/her own cultural heritage. - Teachers in early childhood settings should be well qualified and hold the same status as teachers in the compulsory sector. - People working in early childhood services need access to high quality teacher education, advice, information, resources and ‘voice’ in decision making that affects young children and their families. In 2015 the Association’s name changed from ‘Te Tari Puna Ora o Aotearoa New Zealand Childcare Association’ to ‘Te Rito Maioha Early Childhood New Zealand’.
