Eco-Urns

Eco-Urns is a small, personal service by maker Annie Leigh, creating handmade memorial urns for green burials. Each biodegradable urn is made to order and designed to celebrate the life, interests and personality of someone special. Customers can choose a design from the gallery and have it customised, or discuss a completely different idea with Annie. The process begins with an enquiry and conversations about the memories, images, feelings or events the urn should convey.

The urns are crafted by hand, from shaping and sealing the container to adding decoration such as drawing, painting, collage and three-dimensional details. Materials are carefully selected to be compostable, non-toxic and organic, with some recycled elements. They may include natural items such as leaves, flowers, shells and seeds, as well as plant-based materials like cotton string and recycled cardboard. Available pastes, glues, varnishes and colours are VOC-free and made with organic ingredients. Designed to break down over time in earth or water without harming the environment, each urn is a unique, lovingly made tribute.
