Ecobound

EcoBound is a South African family-run outdoor events brand founded in 1996 by Wikus van der Walt, bringing together people passionate about cycling, mountain biking and the natural world. The team creates distinctive, carefully organized experiences that combine challenging routes with a personal approach. Its events include the Trans Baviaans, a 230-kilometre, 24-hour mountain bike race from Willowmore through the Baviaanskloof to Jeffreys Bay, and To Hell & Back, a two-day extreme mountain bike tour in the remote Gamkaskloof valley.

EcoBound also organizes the Leopard Run, a three-day trail-running event in the Kouga Mountains, Bikamino bikepacking in Namaqualand and George MUT trail-running experiences. Past projects have included mountain biking, trail running and multi-province cycling tours. Alongside event information and updates through its newsletter, EcoBound offers the EcoBound Explorer app for iOS and Android.
