EcoCommons Australia

EcoCommons is an Australian collaborative platform for ecological and environmental analysis and modelling. It brings researchers and practitioners together to address biodiversity challenges with trusted data, established analytical methods and shared workflows. Developed as an evolution of the BCCVL and ecocloud projects, the platform supports users with different levels of technical experience, including those who prefer a point-and-click interface and those who build their own tools.

Users can explore thousands of pre-processed datasets covering species occurrences, traits, climate and environmental conditions, or securely upload their own data. Automated tools help cleanse, organise and transform information. EcoCommons offers more than 17 peer-reviewed modelling algorithms, including species distribution, climate change projection, ensemble and species trait models, alongside decision-support tools and cloud-based computing.

The service also includes educational materials, use cases and training resources. Users can visualise and download data, run analyses, store work, and share results or workflows publicly or with authorised collaborators. By supporting reproducible, transparent research and collaboration, EcoCommons aims to help inform evidence-based environmental policy and decision-making.
