Ecodesarrollo Gaia is a nonprofit organization for sustainable development, founded in 1992 in the context of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio. Based in A Coruña, Spain, it works in the fields of human rights, peace and nonviolence, gender equality, environmental protection, sustainability, and fairness between regions and generations. Its work connects local support for people experiencing hardship with international cooperation, particularly in Senegal.
The organization offers free healthcare through its Coruña Cura project and provides education and training for people facing social exclusion in A Coruña and Senegal. It also delivers comprehensive assistance to immigrants with limited resources in Spain, while supporting efforts to reduce the pressures that drive migration in countries of origin. Its environmental initiatives promote conservation and sustainable development.
Ecodesarrollo Gaia collaborates with social, ecological, cultural, and human rights organizations in Spain and internationally. Its activities include health cooperation missions, such as visual and hearing care in Senegal, and participation in community food-bank collections.
