About Eco Kolek
Eco Kolek, a project by Zacchaeus Cooperative (PZC), in collaboration with USAID's Clean Cities Blue Ocean Program, aims to revolutionize the solid waste management system in Purok Masikap, Barangay Bancao-Bancao. By empowering informal waste collectors through advanced technology, equipping them with proper gear, optimizing collection routes, and providing leadership training, Eco Kolek strives to create a safer and more efficient garbage collection process. This initiative not only minimizes health risks for the collectors but also fosters community development by formalizing associations like Samahan ng mga Mamamayan ng Jacana (SMJ).
With support from partners like TESDA, the City Government of Puerto Princesa, USAID, and DOST, Eco Kolek ensures comprehensive training, logistical support, and technological solutions to streamline waste collection and improve the livelihoods of marginalized communities.
