About Ecolectivos Guatemala
Ecolectivos Guatemala is a project that combines Participatory Action Research (PAR) and Implementation and Dissemination Sciences (CID) elements to offer alternatives for communities burning plastic waste in their homes. With a focus on reducing the health and environmental risks associated with burning plastic, the project aims to address the issues arising from the burning of plastic waste in outdoor stoves and indoor wood-burning stoves.
Their efforts are driven by a commitment to environmental justice and public health, recognizing the detrimental impact of plastic burning on individuals, especially those in low-income countries. Through educational programs, Ecolectivos aims to raise awareness about the risks of burning plastic waste and promote sustainable waste management practices.
Their work is supported by a team of dedicated investigators from Emory University and the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala, ensuring comprehensive research and effective solutions in their mission to create a plastic-free world.
