L’École du Budo is a Japanese martial arts school founded in 1996 by Joël Barillet, a state-qualified instructor and 5th dan Aikikai. Based in the Tours metropolitan area of Indre-et-Loire, France, the school offers instruction in three traditional disciplines: Aikido, Iaido, and Jodo, with practice locations in La Riche, Fondettes, and Tours.
Aikido, developed by Morihei Ueshiba, combines unarmed and weapons techniques with an emphasis on harmony and non-opposition. Iaido, taught in the Muso Shinden Ryu style, focuses on drawing the sword and cutting in a single movement. Jodo is practiced with a partner through kata that bring together techniques from kenjutsu and jojutsu.
The school provides regular classes, practical information on schedules, venues, registration, fees, and equipment, as well as resources on the history and techniques of each art. It also organizes workshops and stages, including Jodo events, and shares articles, photographs, and updates about its activities. Its offerings welcome people interested in learning and practising these Japanese martial arts in the Tours area.
