EcoSanRes

EcoSanRes is a pioneering initiative dedicated to advancing sustainable sanitation solutions, notably through its focus on ecological sanitation (EcoSan). Funded by Sida, EcoSanRes is currently executing its Phase 2 program (2006-2011), which emphasizes pro-poor sanitation and aims to improve access for the 2.5 billion people globally lacking adequate sanitation. The program encompasses the development of regional nodes, capacity building, and knowledge management to enhance sustainable practices in sanitation.

Building on the foundations of its Phase 1 project, launched as part of the SanRes initiative from 1993 to 2002, EcoSanRes has established a wide international network involving 20 organizations. Key components of its approach include outreach through promotion and dissemination, capacity building via methods development and training, and the implementation of pilot projects across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. EcoSanRes not only addresses immediate sanitation challenges but also aims to close the loop in ecological sanitation, making a lasting impact on global sanitation practices.
