In 2009, the founder, Sonya, found herself facing various challenges, including redundancy and becoming a solo mother. Struggling with her mental health, Sonya sought a doctor's advice, who encouraged her to focus on something positive.

Inspired, she embarked on a volunteering trip to East Timor, where she witnessed the struggles of others and found the strength to transform her pain into power. During this time, Sonya's sister asked for a recommendation for a natural spray tan that wouldn't harm her skin. Sonya's research led her to discover the lack of transparency and misleading claims in the beauty industry.
