About ECSACOP
ECSACOP, or the East, Central and Southern Africa College of Physicians, is a regional brand that aims to address the shortage of physicians in the region. Comprising Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, ECSACOP focuses on training physicians close to where they reside, discouraging the migration of doctors seeking training in urban universities. The brand offers training and assessment programs through its accredited institutions, with a rigorous accreditation process conducted by the Accreditation Committee.
The College aims to harmonize internal medicine training across the region and is gradually increasing the number of accredited training sites and trainees. Additionally, ECSACOP engages in collaborative research, developing clinical guidelines, and spearheading regional sub-specialty training. Through its efforts, ECSACOP strives to improve healthcare standards and accessibility throughout the region, ultimately benefiting the over 250 million inhabitants.
