About EcuaWiki
EcuaWiki is a free, community-run guide to Ecuador’s Santa Elena coast and the Ruta del Spondylus. Founded and maintained by Stephan Kleeblatt, it brings together local knowledge contributed by residents to help both visitors and people settling in the region explore coastal life and find practical information. The site covers the Santa Elena Peninsula, including Salinas, La Libertad, Santa Elena, Ballenita and nearby communities, as well as destinations along the coastal highway toward Manabí, such as Montañita, Olón and Ayampe.
Its destination guides introduce the area’s towns, beaches, fishing villages and history. EcuaWiki also publishes how-to guides on everyday needs and paperwork, including visas, residency, identity documents, banking, medical services, internet access, taxis and couriers. An events calendar highlights community activities, live music and workshops along the coast.
Readers can browse the guide, learn how to edit and contribute, or support the project through donations. EcuaWiki aims to make local information accessible and useful for exploring, visiting or making a home on Ecuador’s Pacific coast
