Écuries Lara

Les Écuries Lara is a family-led equestrian centre in Saint-Nazaire, in Quebec’s Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region. Operating under its current name since 1994, the centre continues a family equestrian tradition begun in 1974 and is directed by owners Jennie Ratthé and Gilles Larouche. Its year-round classical riding lessons welcome riders of different ages and experience levels, from beginners to those preparing for regional or provincial competitions.

Specialties include hunter, jumper and dressage disciplines, alongside horse training and breaking, short- and medium-term boarding, and horse sales. The centre also breeds horses and offers natural insemination services, with registered Trakehner stallion Si Marula on site and foals available. Rider development includes mentorship, rider-level training and exams, and support for instructors and competition coaches.

Affiliated with Pavillon Wilbrod Dufour, its sport concentration is available to students in Secondary 1 through 5. Facilities include a heated indoor arena measuring 60 by 140 feet and three outdoor riding areas. Les Écuries Lara does not offer trail rides, horseback outings or guided tours
