The Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) is an autonomous Quasi-Governmental federal institution operating under the auspices of the Ministry of Labor and Skills. Dedicated to fostering a dynamic and innovative entrepreneurial ecosystem, it implements a comprehensive suite of entrepreneurship and innovation support programs, including capacity building, business development services (BDS), access to finance, and market linkage. EDI is a national host of the EMPRETEC program under partnership with the United Nations Trade and Development (UNCTAD). As such, it is one of the vibrant centers not only in Africa but in the world. Moreover, it is the national host of the Global Entreprenweurship Week (GEW). EDI’s has been a success story of impact at individual, institutional, and ecosystem levels over the past 12 years. With the vision to widewife the birth of Ethiopia’s first unicorns, it is experimenting with novel ways to catalyze the country’s economic and social rennaissance with the Motto: Inspire, Disrupt, and Transform.

About Entrepreneurship Development Institute
Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) - Ethiopia is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Labor and Skills, resulting from the merger of two organizations: the UNDP-supported Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) and the World Bank-financed Women Entrepreneurship Development Project (WEDP). With the aim of fostering a vibrant and competitive private sector, EDI provides comprehensive programs to support entrepreneurship. Their services include ecosystem and capacity building, business development services (BDS), access to finance, and more.
EDI offers a wide range of training programs in entrepreneurship, tailored to different target groups such as women, youth, and rural entrepreneurs. They also provide business development services and continuous advisory services to promote the establishment and growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Additionally, EDI emphasizes innovation for development, empowering various stakeholders to find sustainable solutions for economic and social challenges.
