The Education Foundation of Ottawa is an independent registered charity that works with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) to help ensure students’ critical needs are met. Based in Ottawa, Ontario, the Foundation supports children across OCDSB schools by providing essentials and opportunities that can help reduce the effects of financial barriers and promote success.
Its programs include support for students in crisis, food security initiatives, awards and bursaries, active living and opportunity programs, and Backpacks for Brighter Futures, which supplies school essentials such as backpacks, water bottles, and lunch bags. The Foundation also offers Bridges Over Barriers and shares the experiences of students it has helped. Through its work with schools, it responds to requests for assistance and helps connect students with needed resources.
Individuals and organizations can contribute through donations, sponsorships, in-kind support, and fundraising activities, including Toonie Tuesday and a silent auction. The Foundation also invites community members to become EFO Champions and encourages school and student councils to participate.
