Alcainça Equestrian by Mário Cardoso is a family-owned riding facility in Portugal, welcoming riders and guests from around the world. With more than 30 years of experience, its riding school is rooted in classical horsemanship and offers tuition in dressage and working equitation. The facility specializes in riding and training pure-bred Lusitano horses, giving visitors the chance to learn with these renowned horses in their original environment.

Riders of different experience levels can develop their technique, balance, feel and understanding under the guidance of expert, multilingual dressage instructors. Lessons take place in indoor or outdoor arenas on the estate and can be scheduled up to twice a day. Well-trained schoolmaster horses support learning from a first classical riding experience through to refining advanced movements such as piaffe and passage. The school’s approach emphasizes riding in harmony with the horse. Guests are hosted at the family-run Quinta, making Alcainça Equestrian a destination for tuition, horse training and an immersive equestrian stay.
