About Equal Education Law Centre
Equal Education Law Centre (EELC) is a registered law clinic with the Cape Law Society, specializing in education policy, legal advocacy, community lawyering, and public interest litigation. Established in 2012, their team of social justice lawyers provides free legal services to individuals who cannot afford representation. The EELC focuses on strategic litigation concerning long-term educational reform and individual cases related to learners, parents, and teachers.
Their aim is to create systemic change in the education sector and ensure equitable, safe, and adequate basic education for all learners. The EELC works closely with Equal Education (EE), a movement advocating for quality and equality in South African education. They provide legal advice, interventions, and strategic litigation to support EE's campaigns.
In addition to legal processes, the EELC engages in non-legal advocacy, policy research, and assists communities and institutions in formulating their own perspectives. Their efforts also include improving accountability mechanisms within the public education system. Contact EELC at Tel: +27 21 461 1421 or visit their website for more information
