Een huisje in mijn hart is a children’s book brand created by Laura Erens to help families talk about the loss of a baby or child. After losing her son Manuel in 2021, Laura wanted a thoughtful way to keep his memory alive and explain his place in the family to her younger son. When she could not find a book that expressed what she wanted to share, she wrote one herself.
The book offers comfort to young children who have lost a brother or sister, using a heartfelt poem and illustrations to show that a deceased sibling remains part of the family. It is available in two versions: one about a lost brother and one about a lost sister. The illustrations are the same in both editions, while the wording is adjusted to refer to the sibling as a boy or girl.
