EFFRA is a non-profit, industry-driven association known as the European Factories of the Future Research Association. They are dedicated to promoting the advancement of new and innovative production technologies. Representing the private sector in the manufacturing partnership with the EU Commission, EFFRA has taken on the role of spearheading the Made in Europe initiative, which was previously known as Factories of the Future under Horizon 2020 and is now under Horizon Europe.

The primary goal of EFFRA is to encourage pre-competitive research on production technologies within the European Research Area by collaborating with the European Commission through partnerships. They aim to establish the Made In Europe partnership as the driving force behind sustainable manufacturing in Europe by enhancing manufacturing ecosystems, fostering technology leadership, promoting circular industries, and encouraging flexibility. This partnership aims to create a competitive, green, digital, resilient, and human-centric manufacturing industry that is capable of thriving amidst ecological and digital transitions.
