**Ephemeral Films: National Socialism in Austria** is a pioneering project dedicated to preserving the audiovisual memory of the Nazi era, focusing on the important yet often overlooked narratives of Jewish life and the societal upheaval in Austria during this tumultuous period. This initiative, supported by the Future Fund of the Republic of Austria, has successfully digitized and annotated 50 ephemeral films - a unique collection that includes amateur, institutional, and educational footage. These films serve as a critical counterpoint to the Nazi propaganda narratives, providing a more nuanced understanding of the era.

Collaborating with prestigious institutions such as the Austrian Film Museum and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the project employs cutting-edge technology to create high-resolution digital copies, ensuring that the films remain closely connected to their analog origins. The innovative web application allows users to view these films frame-by-frame, complete with synchronized annotations that enrich the viewing experience. As a vital resource for historical research and public education, **Ephemeral Films** invites viewers to explore the complexities of history through film.
