The Egyptian Foundation for Microbiome Sciences and its Applications (EFMSA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2020. Our vision is two-fold: firstly, to bring people the utmost benefits of utilizing microbiota to improve their health and lives, and secondly, to promote research, innovation, and awareness in the field of microbiome sciences and its applications.

Microbiome refers to the communities of tiny microorganisms in a defined living ecosystem, including humans, animals, plants, soils, water reservoirs, and more. It is an interdisciplinary field with a significant impact on our health and well-being. Through our mission, we aim to promote the development of microbiome science and its applications by attracting attention to its massive importance.

To achieve our mission, we organize scientific and societal events, provide training and workshops, facilitate local and international networking, and share the latest findings in microbiome sciences. Our annual conference, held every November in Egypt, gathers academics and industrial sectors to raise awareness and highlight the health benefits of microbiota.
