European Forum for Urban Security

The European Forum for Urban Security (Efus) is a European network of local and regional authorities working together to address urban security. Founded 40 years ago, it brings together more than 250 cities and regions across 17 European countries. Efus helps members share experience, develop practical responses and represent local perspectives at European level. Its approach combines prevention, sanctions and social cohesion, with an emphasis on local democracy, participation and collaboration.

Efus supports exchanges among authorities through conferences, webinars, thematic working groups, field visits and European projects involving public bodies, universities, experts and practitioners. It also advocates for local and regional authorities with national governments and European institutions on crime prevention and urban security. The Innovation Studio for Urban Security brings cities, private-sector partners and citizens together to co-create safety solutions. Efus also convenes a coalition of European cities and regions focused on responses to drug-related violence and harm.

For members and practitioners, Efus provides training, events and a catalogue of more than 60 publications, alongside practical resources on topics ranging from crisis management and policing to public spaces, mental health and social inclusion.
