About European Golf Association
The European Golf Association (EGA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1937 and based in Epalinges, Switzerland. Comprising 50 National Golf Authorities, the EGA is dedicated to promoting golf across Europe by fostering collaboration among its members and establishing best practices in the sport's development and sustainability. The EGA hosts over 20 international events annually, including prestigious championships for amateurs in various categories such as the European Amateur and Ladies' Championships, along with team competitions like the St Andrews and Vagliano Trophies.
Additionally, the EGA coordinates events for golfers with disabilities in collaboration with EDGA, reflecting its commitment to inclusivity in the sport. As the exclusive Authorized Handicapping Body for Continental Europe, the EGA oversees the implementation of the World Handicap System (WHS) and provides support to member federations in course rating. Through its initiatives and events, the EGA continues to shape the future of amateur golf, nurturing the next generation of players and ensuring the sport thrives in Europe
