The Association Bordelaise d’Égyptologie (ABE) is an association dedicated to sharing knowledge about ancient Egypt and supporting public interest in Egyptology. Based in the Bordeaux area, it organizes a varied programme of lectures, study sessions and other activities throughout the year, with events open to members and, in many cases, the wider public. Its conference series brings together Egyptologists, historians, archaeologists and specialists to discuss topics ranging from ancient Egyptian religion, art and architecture to inscriptions, archaeological discoveries and Egypt’s connections with other cultures.
The ABE also offers epigraphy sessions and provides opportunities to attend selected talks by videoconference, subject to registration. Events take place at venues including the University of Bordeaux Montaigne, while the association’s agenda shares information about activities and events in other locations. Participation fees vary by event and membership status, with reduced or free access available in some cases for students and job seekers.
