Norge importerer ca. 97% av sitt behov for industriell elektronikk. Importørene, elektronikkindustrien og elektronikkutviklerne har en sentral rolle i formidling, utvikling og utnyttelse av ny teknologi og nye produkter til den øvrige industrien, næringslivet og offentlig forvaltning. Elektronikk Industri Foreningen - EIF - er en bransjeforening for norskbaserte bedrifter som driver elektronikkrelatert virksomhet som i hovedsak retter seg mot det profesjonelle marked, enten som importør, produsent eller utvikler. Foreningen har 20 medlemsbedrifter. EIF har som formål å ivareta bransjens interesser i forhold til rammebetingelser satt av myndigheter, - samt være bransjens talerør overfor andre bransjer, organisasjoner og kunder i industri og offentlige etater. Blant de viktigste oppgaver for foreningen kan nevnes samarbeide og koordinering av deltagelse på messer og utstillinger, arrangement av temamøter, utarbeidelse av markedsstatistikk for medlemmene, rådgivning i forretningsetiske spørsmål etc. Planlegging og gjennomføring av EIF's utstillinger som årlig avholdes i landets største byer er et eksempel på foreningens mange aktiviteter.
