Ei SMART

Ei SMART is a charity registered in England and Wales that works to improve developmental outcomes for premature and sick infants and other high-risk babies. Its evidence-based framework supports early intervention from birth, bringing parents and professionals together to help each child reach their potential. The approach considers four connected areas of development: sensory experiences, motor skills, attention and regulation, and relationships.

Ei SMART provides parents with practical resources, education and tools to support their baby’s development, including free developmental play leaflets, webinars and posters. For professionals, it offers training courses and study days, including an Early Intervention Course, as well as resources to strengthen knowledge, skills and practice. The organisation also collaborates on research to advance early intervention and works to influence policy on the care of high-risk infants.

Designed to encourage close collaboration between families and multidisciplinary professionals, Ei SMART aims to help babies feel secure, develop, explore and build relationships. Its resources have reached families and professionals internationally, with the organisation reporting use in 20 countries.
