About Ekôlab
Ekolab is a non-profit organization that aims to be a laboratory for quality journalism in West Africa. It was created by a group of journalists who share values such as truth, accuracy, and integrity. In the current context of West Africa, where journalism is increasingly dominated by opinion and fake news, Ekolab seeks to restore a journalism rooted in reality and serving communities.
While Ekolab is not a media outlet in the traditional sense, it has three main missions: training investigative journalists, publishing investigations, and educating the public about media literacy. The investigations published by Ekolab will be shared on their website, but their primary focus is on training journalists and promoting media literacy in order to create an informed and engaged citizenry. Ekolab is funded through member contributions, donations, grants, and bequests, ensuring its independence and neutrality.
For journalists interested in benefiting from their training and publishing investigations, they must apply through Ekolab's call for applications and be selected by their experienced committee. The selection criteria are pedagogical in nature, including adherence to ethical rules and principles, curiosity, tolerance, and integrity. Stay informed by subscribing to Ekolab's newsletter and follow them on social media for the latest updates
