El Cronicón de Oña

El Cronicón de Oña is a cultural project presented by the Asociación Cultural El Cronicón de Oña, bringing the history and heritage of Oña, in Burgos, to life through historical reenactments. Its annual production takes place at the Monastery of San Salvador, a landmark closely connected to the stories portrayed. The 2026 edition, the event’s 38th, is scheduled for August 12–16 and moves the action to the monastery’s Baroque cloister, built during major expansions in the 17th and 18th centuries.

The performance explores the history of the region, the count family that founded the monastery, Benedictine life, and episodes associated with figures buried in Oña’s pantheon. More than 140 local participants of different ages contribute to the production, combining community involvement with the interpretation and preservation of local history and artistic heritage. Recognized as a Regional Tourist Interest Festival, El Cronicón de Oña also offers ticket sales online and through its box office, along with information about the performance and its setting.
