About Florida Department of Elder Affairs
The Florida Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA) plays a vital role in promoting the well-being, safety, and independence of seniors across the state. With nearly 6. 3 million residents aged 60 and older, DOEA develops essential policies and programs that address the diverse needs of Florida's aging population.
The department serves as a key advocate for seniors and their families, working closely with 11 Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) to provide a comprehensive network of services. DOEA offers a variety of programs, including the Alzheimer’s Disease Initiative, National Family Caregiver Support Program, and nutritional assistance programs. Additionally, the Elder Helpline connects seniors to vital resources and support services.
Among its goals are raising public awareness about aging issues, combating ageism, and ensuring that Floridians can live well and age gracefully.
