Eleanor Shakespeare is a photomontage illustrator and designer whose work brings editorial stories, places and ideas to life through distinctive, engaging imagery. She creates illustrations and cover art for magazines, newspapers, books, music releases and other creative projects, collaborating with art directors and clients to develop work suited to each brief. Her portfolio includes a 25th-anniversary cover for Waitrose Food, a Penguin Classics cover for The Apprentice Tourist, illustrations for Billboard’s 2025 Grammy coverage, and editorial commissions for The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal, The Times, AFAR and The Big Issue.
Her projects span subjects including travel, culture, technology, family history, social issues and current trends. Shakespeare also creates illustrated series, such as a set of destinations for AFAR and artwork exploring smart-home technology for Artful Living. Her practice extends to record-cover illustration, including artwork for Paul Crowe’s debut album.
Across these commissions, she combines visual storytelling with thoughtful research and close collaboration to make complex or lively subjects accessible and memorable
