Elections Alberta

Elections Alberta is an independent, non-partisan office of Alberta’s Legislative Assembly responsible for administering provincial elections, by-elections and referenda. Its work supports fair, accessible voting and helps inform the public about how democratic processes operate in the province. The organization provides practical services for voters, including voter registration, eligibility and identification guidance, voting-location information, accessible voting options, language resources and special ballots for voting by mail. It also publishes election results, reports, statistics, research and educational materials.

Elections Alberta supports the people and organizations involved in electoral events. Its resources explain how to run as a candidate, work as an election officer or serve as a scrutineer, and outline requirements for political parties, candidates, constituency associations, third-party advertisers and other participants. The office also provides guidance on political financing, contributions, fundraising, expenses and financial reporting, and handles complaints and investigations related to election rules. Additional services include referendum information, media resources, election-integrity guidance and information about recall and citizen initiative processes.
