About Electoral Commission of Zambia
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) is an independent and autonomous Electoral Management Body (EMB) that has been in operation since 1996. With a commitment to ensure free and fair elections, the ECZ has successfully organized five General Elections, two Presidential Elections, and numerous National Assembly and Local Government by-elections. As the primary authority responsible for managing electoral processes in Zambia, the ECZ plays a crucial role in upholding democratic principles.
Their key functions include constitutional delimitation, voter registration, conducting elections and referendums, and managing statutory conflicts. The ECZ is dedicated to promoting voter education and awareness among the citizens of Zambia. They provide valuable resources in their Voter Education Resource Library, offering information on the legal framework, election results, and downloads for voters, candidates, electoral officials, monitors, and observers.
