Elegant Design Ltd. is a Budapest-based garment production and prototype manufacturing company with roots in Hungary’s clothing industry. Its history traces back to the registration of the May 1 Clothing Factory in 1958, the launch of the Elegant fashion brand in 1969, and the company’s reopening under the Elegant Design name in 1994. In 2019, the business became family-owned under Hungarian ownership.
The company supports clients across the garment production process, offering modelling, sample making, prototyping, collection development, pattern making using the Gerber system, and quality control. It also coordinates production in partner factories, drawing on its model factory and Hungarian and Romanian craftspeople to create durable, carefully made products with an emphasis on precision and efficiency.
Sustainability is central to Elegant Design’s approach. The company aims to reduce its environmental footprint by making long-lasting garments from eco-friendly, degradable materials and incorporating design-conscious, environmentally responsible practices into its work.
