About Environmental Law Initiative
We work on a range of issues, including legal cases, policy submissions, and media engagement. Our team consists of experts in environmental law, policy, science, ecology, and management, ensuring that we have a comprehensive and well-rounded approach to our work. At ELI, we believe in collaboration and partnerships.
We work closely with various groups and individuals, including iwi, hapū, governmental agencies, charities, and organizations, to collectively work towards protecting Aotearoa's natural resources. By joining forces, we can create more impactful and lasting change. Our specialist areas focus on protecting and preserving New Zealand's biodiversity and native species, managing and sustaining the marine environment and fisheries, restoring and conserving freshwater and wetlands, and addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
