ELIXIR-UK is the United Kingdom node of ELIXIR, a community supporting life sciences research through bioinformatics, computational biology and sustainable research data infrastructure. It brings together people and organisations across the UK to improve how research data is managed, shared and reused, with an emphasis on FAIR principles and reproducible research.
The network serves the diverse life sciences community through communities of practice, training and support for research data management. It also endorses open-access services to increase their visibility and reach, and advances data stewardship through a fellowship of ambassadors. Members can take part in collaborative projects, events and communities, contributing expertise and helping shape shared priorities.
ELIXIR-UK connects 32 research-performing organisations and supports 32 services. Its work includes building skills, strengthening sustainable infrastructures and preparing research resources for AI-ready use. The organisation also collaborates with UK and international stakeholders and shares news, opportunities and events across its network. ELIXIR-UK is supported by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, with its current grant identified as BB/C001384/1.
