The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) is dedicated to conserving and enhancing wildlife habitats, particularly for elk and other species across North America. Founded in 1984, RMEF has made significant strides in wildlife conservation, having successfully conserved or enhanced nearly 9 million acres of habitat. In collaboration with the Nevada Department of Wildlife and Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, RMEF has launched impactful restoration projects, including the planting of over 64,000 bitterbrush and Wyoming sagebrush plants in fall 2023.
These efforts are crucial in rehabilitating fire-damaged ecosystems, particularly for wildlife that relies on these areas for survival, such as mule deer and moose.
