About El-Koony Trust
El-Koony Center is a brand dedicated to maximizing the key features of the Mount Elgon Ecosystem. They offer various programs and initiatives aimed at conservation, community engagement, and commerce. Conservation is at the core of their mission, as they strive to preserve, restore, and enhance the natural landscape of the Mount Elgon Ecosystem.
They also prioritize community involvement, working together with the local community to enhance social-cultural management of the ecosystem. Additionally, they develop projects that connect conservation and community, ultimately improving community well-being while protecting nature. The El-Koony Center invites individuals to support their work and join them in preserving the Mount Elgon ecosystem and the livelihoods of those who reside there.
Through scientific research, knowledge creation, and stakeholder engagement, they focus on climate-resilient agriculture, human-wildlife conflict mitigation, and ethnobotany and bioprospecting projects. By promoting sustainable practices and embracing the 3 C's (community, conservation, and commerce), El-Koony Center is enacting positive change across the ecosystem
