ELLEN DE MEIJER

Ellen de Meijer is a contemporary artist whose portrait practice examines modern-day archetypes and the tensions shaping contemporary life. Using satire, she depicts characters surrounded by symbols of status and success, exposing the pressures of achievement, social validation, consumption, and performed identity. Her paintings combine polished appearances with an underlying sense of irony and unease, inviting viewers to consider the social systems and uncomfortable truths behind them.

The artist’s selected works span more than a decade, from Down the Wall (2011) to The Custodian (2026), and include themes such as digital culture, material desire, and ecological impact. Her work has appeared in gallery, art fair, and institutional contexts internationally, and she has presented solo exhibitions in New York, including Lost and Found and #CO2.

Through The EDM Collection, de Meijer offers collectible screenprints based on her paintings. These prints are produced in strictly limited editions on museum-quality archival paper and are hand-signed and numbered by the artist. The collection includes editions of 50 and rare editions of six.
