Ellen Pitlo

Ellen Pitlo is a Dutch animal-focused creator who uses photography, books, radio and podcasts to share the stories and perspectives of animals. Her work explores the relationship between people and animals, bringing attention to the meaning and wisdom found in their lives. A distinctive part of her photographic practice is portraying older horses, whose expressions, she believes, reflect a lifetime of experience. She also helps people create lasting memories of their older horses or prepare for the loss of a beloved horse.

Pitlo is the author of three books: Tussen Vrouwen en Paarden, Dansen met Cheyenne and Gewoon een hond? Her books invite readers to see the world through animals’ eyes. Through her podcast, #OverDieren, she speaks with guests about subjects that can be difficult to put into words.
